Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is the difference between a toy lightsaber and a combat-ready lightsaber?

Toy lightsabers are made for casual play and typically use lightweight materials. Combat-ready lightsabers are made with durable materials like aluminum hilts and polycarbonate blades, designed for heavy dueling.

How do I pick a lightsaber?

There are two types of lightsabers: Baselit (RGB) and Pixel.

  • RGB lightsabers use LEDs in the hilt to produce light, which then illuminates the blade—similar to a flashlight. They offer basic color and blade settings, making them durable and ideal for heavy dueling.
  • Neopixel lightsabers contain LED strips inside the blade, allowing for brighter illumination, advanced effects, and extensive customization. They are perfect for cosplay and display, but because the LEDs are embedded in the blade, heavy dueling is not recommended.

Can kids use Soul SaberZ lightsabers?

We don’t recommend lightsabers for children under 14 years old. Children 13
and under
should be closely supervised when handling a lightsaber.

Technical Questions

How can I tell if I have a baselit or pixel lightsaber?

To determine whether you have a baselit or pixel lightsaber, check inside the hilt:

  • If you see one to three headlamps, you have a baselit lightsaber.
  • If you see electronic pins, you have a pixel lightsaber.

How to install the blade?

A. RGB lightsabers

  1. Insert the fastening screws into screw holes so they are ready to be tightened once the blade is in place.
  2. Insert the blade into the hilt until it makes contact with the emitter.
  3. Tighten the fastening screws to secure the blade. Do not overtighten as to avoid denting the blade – once the screw touches the blade, turn another ½ to ¾ turn.

B. Pixel lightsabers:

  1. Insert the fastening screws into screw holes so they are ready to be tightened once the blade is in place.
  2. Insert the blade into the hilt until it makes contact with the electronic pins. Push up and down – do not twist, as this could bend the pins.
  3. Once the blade contacts the pins, continue pushing down until it stops (there is a spring mechanism).
  4. Next, slightly release pressure so the blade is not fully compressing on the pins; Fully compressed pins can cause damage if the blade is struck too hard.
  5. Tighten the fastening screws to secure the blade; do not overtighten as to avoid denting the blade – once the screw touches the blade, turn another ½ to ¾ turn.

How do I charge my lightsaber?

Most lightsabers come with a USB cable. Always use the provided charger to prevent damage, and ensure the battery is fully charged before use. Do NOT use a charger with an input higher than 5V/2A, as this may damage the battery.

Depending on your lightsaber model, there are three charging methods:

  1. External Charging Port Models: Use the included charging cable to charge the lightsaber.
  2. Built-in Charging Port Models: Unscrew the pommel or handle, then use the included charging cable to charge.
  3. No Charging Port Models: Unscrew the handle, remove the battery, and use the included charging station to charge it.

How long does the battery last?

Battery life depends on the type of lightsaber and its usage. Typically, batteries last 2–4 hours of continuous use for dueling sabers and longer for display-only models.

How to remove the battery?

1. Access the Core:

  • Unscrew the bottom half of the hilt to expose the core.
  • For some models, you only need to unscrew the pommel and pull out the core.

2. Check Battery Exposure:

  • If the entire battery is visible (not partially hidden by the upper hilt), remove the battery as per step 4 below.

3. For Partially Exposed Batteries:

  • Locate the screw at the back of the upper hilt and unscrew it.
  • Detach the Inner Structure by pressing the activation button so it passes through the button hole, allowing the inner structure to be removed.
  • Pull down the inner structure to detach it.

4. Remove the Battery:

  • With the battery facing downward, gently tap the core to loosen it, then pry it out with your fingers.

Usage Questions

Can I duel with this lightsaber?

We only recommend dueling with RGB lightsabers. Pixel lightsabers contain LED strips inside, which can be damaged with hard impacts. While replacement blades are available, pixel blades tend to be more expensive. To explore our blade options, check out our accessories section.

Can I customize my lightsaber?

The level of customization depends on your lightsaber model. If you have an SRGB, XRGB, SN-Pixel, Xenopixel, or Proffie model, customization is available. You can modify the blade color, effects, and sound fonts, with Pixel sabers offering the most extensive customization options.

How do I change the sound font or blade color?

Instructions vary by the model. Refer to the user manual for detailed guidance. If you need a copy of the manual, click here. If you are unsure which model you have, please contact us at support@soulsaberz.com to assist.

Maintenance Questions

How do I clean my lightsaber?

Wipe the hilt with a soft cloth and clean the blade with a damp cloth. Avoid using
harsh chemicals.

Can I replace the blade?

Yes, you can get replacement blades. To explore our blade options, check out our accessories section.

What do I do if my lightsaber stops working?

First, check the battery and connections to ensure everything is properly secured. If the issue persists, please contact customer support for further assistance or repair options.

My lightsaber does not have any sound. Is it broken?

Please confirm whether the lightsaber is in mute mode by adjusting the volume. If it is not muted, try reinstalling the battery. Refer to the lightsaber manual for detailed instructions on performing these steps.

Why won’t my lightsaber turn on?

Please charge the saber first to ensure it is fully powered. If it still does not turn on, remove and reinstall the battery, making sure the positive and negative ends are correctly aligned and in proper contact with the metal plates. If the issue persists, please contact us at support@soulsaberz.com for further assistance.

Why is the blade loose?

Make sure the screws securing the blade are properly tightened. It is normal for both the screws and blade to loosen after extended use. Also, ensure that all fastening screws are in place—there may be 2 to 4 screw locations, depending on your lightsaber model. Do not overtighten the screws to prevent denting the blade.
